Celebrating 50 Issues with 50 Iconic Homes | Issues 20-29

In just one week from today, we’ll be launching our 50th issue of est magazine. We’re honouring 50 of the most iconic homes to be featured in our digital magazine to celebrate this milestone. From issues 20 to 29, seven homes left an indelible mark. From a Belgian barn conversion in Issue 21 to a rural Wyoming retreat in Issue 29, these homes have stood the test of time.

01. Kortrijk Home by Frederic Kielemoes, Vanessa Cauwe and CAAN Architecten

Featured in issue 21, Belgian interior designers Frederic Kielemoes and Vanessa Cauwe, together with Belgian architecture firm CAAN Architecten, converted a former flax mill in the Flemish countryside into a modern family home with rustic appeal.

02. Where Architects Live | Claus and Kirsten Bjarrum

An early edition of our ‘Where Architects Live’ series, the Mallorcan holiday home of Danish architects Claus and Kirsten Bjarrum, as seen on the cover of issue 24, is a place where the pace of daily is life still governed by old-fashioned rhythms and rituals.

03. Elwood Home by Pipkorn & Kilpatrick

Appearing in issue 27, Australian interior designers Pipkorn & Kilpatrick brought an original Californian bungalow in Melbourne’s Elwood neighbourhood into its next chapter as a bright, entertainment-oriented family home.

04. Armadale Home by B.E Architecture

In issue 27, Australian firm B.E Architecture revealed the beauty and liveability of Brutalist-style buildings with this home in Melbourne’s Armadale neighbourhood, built from 260 tonnes of granite.

05. Where Architects Live | Ludovica and Roberto Palomba

The cover star of issue 27, this gloriously rustic Puglia home, originally constructed in the 1600s as an oil mill, belongs to Italian architecture firm Palomba Serafini Associati founders Ludovica and Roberto Palomba.

06. Paris Apartment by Guillaume Alan

In issue 29, we encountered a Paris apartment that embodied the phrase “less is more”, designed by French architect Guillaume Alan.

07. Wyoming Home by McLean Quinlan

Over the course of 50 issues, we’ve been treated to some of the best views the world has to offer. Among them are the snowcapped mountains of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, experienced from within this issue 29 featured home designed by English architects McLean Quinlan.
