FRAMA introduces Kitchen Modules by Kvänum

When visiting the home of Frama founder Niels Strøyer Christophersen in 2017 I got to hear the story behind his kitchen born from elements originally found on the street and put together for the apartment. This week Frama introduced their Kitchen Modules in collaboration with historic kitchen and cabinetry makers, Kvänum. The very first FRAMA kitchen was built based on principles refined to their most essential. Celebrating pure function, the aim was to create a kitchen focusing on the essentials of cooking and being. Collaboration with Kvänum now marks the next organic step in this design process — traditional craft meets FRAMA’s distinctly straightforward aesthetic.

Working together, the question of material longevity was central to the connection between the Kvänum and FRAMA design identities. Designed to complement our most essential spaces, FRAMA Modules by Kvänum are an extension of research in natural materials, and material selection like birch was one result of prioritizing longevity.

Using textural diversity such as wood, stone, and steel, they invoke simplicity and honesty wherever they’re placed, whether in a kitchen, bathroom, or workspace. The FRAMA Modules by Kvänum are available in two core wood frames, Chestnut and Ginger, to complement the FRAMA universe.

This new approach to modules takes FRAMA’s distinct design language and fuses it with Kvänum’s approach to kitchen-making — which is typically completely custom. In collaboration with FRAMA, this craftsmanship is pared down to an accessible, minimal form for one of the most active rooms within the home. A meticulous blend of form and function in which every detail is taken into account.
