Last week I received the new collection catalog by Anna Karlin. A self-taught product designer living in New York. Her work also encompasses projects in print, art direction, fashion shows, interiors and a fine jewelry collection. This alchemic approach to design led her to launch her Furniture + Fine Objects Collection and she is now represented internationally by a network of design galleries and works with leading interior designers and architects to place her pieces in some of the most prestigious buildings internationally.
She believes strongly that all forms of design should tell a story and that all the disciplines contribute wonderfully to each other and therefore no one area should remain untouched. Her studio practice, Anna Karlin Furniture + Fine Objects, and Anna Karlin Fine Jewelry, are the result of this sensibility.
A world in itself
Scrolling through the catalog it were the lamps that caught my eye. The lamps are world in itself and stand out by its shapes and material. I made a selection of three lamps for you that I loved.
Triplet Scone
A stack of three organic blown glass forms, held within a tube of patinated aluminum. The glass can be rotated 180 degrees to created left- and right-handed configurations.
Materials: Steel, Aluminum, Glass, Resin
Triplet table lamp
In the same series and materials, Steel, Aluminum, Glass and Resin, we find the Triplet table lamp. A stack of three organic blown glass forms, held within a tube of patinated aluminum. The glass can be rotated 180 degrees to created left- and right-handed configurations. Customizations available for both Triplet lamps.
Lantern Stack
Sculptural forms are stacked along a hand-finished tube running from floor to ceiling, with a central light source providing a soft, organic glow which accentuates the inherent texture of the fiberglass material. The outlines of the forms are punctuated by an aestheticized interpretation of rivets. Used materials are Fiberglass, Steel, Brass, Acrylic
