J. Adams & Co expands their Orbit and Strata collections

On instagram I saw some images of the J. Adams & Co stand at Decorex 2024. As you know, I am an avid trade fair visitor and this year I had the pleasure of visiting a number of them again. I have never visited a trade fair in the UK, but who knows, maybe I will plan some in the future. From what I saw of the J. Adams & Co stand design, I was deeply impressed. I have rarely seen such a stylish stand with beautiful corners and display cases in which the various parts of the lamps were displayed. Inviting visitors to explore the world of production and British craftsmanship.

Stylish and sophisticated, in my opinion the perfect term for the UK based contemporary lighting design brand if I had to describe them in two words. I am really happy to have teamed up with the brand for my own home and show you my favourite lighting designs in this previous post: Three favourite lamps by J.Adams & Co and a kitchen update

New Designs launched at Decorex 2024

At Decorex J.Adams & Co launched new designs and suspension options of the Orbit collection, and presented new lengths for the Strata collection.

Strata collection

The Strata collection consists of two slender ribbed glass tubes running parallel, connected by rounded brass end caps to create the feeling of a continuous loop. I love ribbed glass and the soft decorative light it casts. The Strata creates a linear focal point that is equally suited to high-ceilinged spaces as it is to a kitchen island or table at home.

A new feature is the option of different lengths, in addition to the original 1600mm length there is now a 1200mm option which is particularly suited to smaller dining tables or kitchen islands. Multiple pendants can also be combined to create a dynamic composition. Each piece is expertly crafted in the brand’s workshop, allowing them to overcome the inherent limitations of glass production.

A machined brass component that elegantly connects two glass tubes was developed, seamlessly joining them into a single, harmonious form, resulting in the extension of the Strata lamp to new lengths. Which will offer designers even more opportunities to play with scale, balance, and proportion in their lighting arrangements.

Strata is now available in 1200mm, 1600mm, 2350mm, and 3150mm as well as in a wall light. Next to my favourite antique bronze there are 3 other finishes to choose from: Bronze, and satin brass and nickel. See more of the Strata collection

Orbit collection

The Orbit collection sees a wall light as well as a Pendant light. Orbit Wall Light is a sculptural wall lamp that next to the hallway, works well in the bathroom. The wall lamps offer good protection against water splashes and moisture and are therefore extremely suitable for use in wet areas like our bathrooms.

The back plate was already available in travertine, as well as in black, green and red marble. New and presented at Decorex is the metal finish in the brand’s well-known bronze, antique brass, satin brass and satin nickel.  J. Adams & Co is also offering rough sand-cast textures in antique brass and bronze, for which their craftsmen at the Birmingham workshop uses a centuries-old process.

Braided cables and Orbit groupings

In addition to the new metal options, the brand introduced braided cable to the Orbit pendant series. Standard cables come in black cotton, with a variety of bespoke options available to suit any design preference.

For even greater design flexibility, the Orbit Pendant is now available in 3-drop and 6-drop grouped configurations, and larger groupings on request. These groupings allow for customisable arrangements, making it possible to effortlessly create dramatic, visually captivating lighting installations for any space and style.

Being a true travertine lover, I really like the combination of travertine with the matt opal shade and I think it would look beautiful in a minimal interior. Orbit is a highly versatile collection of pendant and wall lights. The simple, paired back design showcases the expertly engineered materials, contrasting the pure opal glass sphere with the natural stone and new metal surrounds.
