BenQ Mobiuz EX2710R 2K 165Hz Curved Gaming Monitor Review

BenQ Mobiuz Gaming monitor lineup has been providing a premium gaming experience for the users at various price points for quite some time in the market. Previously we have reviewed the Mobiuz EX2710 Gaming Monitor and during the review, the Mobiuz gaming monitor has impressed us in several categories. Now we have the BenQ Mobiuz EX2710R 165Hz 2K curved gaming monitor for review.

Gaming Monitors with a refresh rate of 144Hz and 1920×1080 resolution are increasingly easy to get hold of these days. In this already saturated gaming monitor category, the Mobiuz EX2710R standout with its higher resolution of 2560×1440 and an impressive 165Hz refresh rate which is quite a suitable resolution in my experience.

Design and Build

The BenQ Mobiuz EX2710R follows similar design cues from its existing mobiuz gaming monitors lineup. The gaming monitor is made up of plastic material with a metal base stand with a colour scheme of Black and Silver with orange accents on the base stand. Like its predecessor, the monitor is extremely easy to put together. The display, legs and stand were assembled in less than 90 seconds.

The Mobiuz gaming monitor offers tilt, swivel, and height adjustment for better ergonomics. Since the stand height can be only adjustment up to 100mm, someone who is particularly tall or who would like to have more height like me would have to go with a height-adjustable desk to meet the requirements. The Build quality of EX2710R is excellent, the gaming monitor stands firmly on the desk.

The 27-inch 1000R curved display panel itself looks very modern thanks to the thin bezel along the sides and top. The bottom bezel houses an HDRi button and a 2.1 channel dual 2W speakers in the front and a 5W subwoofer at the rear. a clean look overall.

The power button, quick input button and the OSD joystick button are placed under the ambient light sensor at the bottom edge of the screen. The settings can be customized with different setting options in the deeper menu. The quick menu also gives you a rundown of the refresh rate, adaptive sync, and HDR mode.

At the rear side of the monitor, BenQ has added a removable cover to hide the cable connected to the I/O ports to keep the look clean.

Performance

BenQ Mobiuz EX2710R is a 27-inch VA display technology that is a form of LED panel. VA panels are characterized as having the best contrast and image depth among the other main types of display panels TN and IPS panels. The 2560x1440p resolution display features a 1ms response time with a refresh rate of 165Hz and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro to deliver a smooth gameplay experience.

With the BenQ HDRi built-in with the monitor, the EX2710R delivers decent HDR performance which can be easily enabled straight from the dedicated HDRi button placed in the front with customized HDR modes for different scenarios like Game HDRi, Cinema HDRi and Display HDR.

With the 2K display, the details showed while gaming or watching Amazon Prime or Netflix content was crisp and well detailed with the 109ppi. Also, BenQ’s proprietary EyeCare technology makes sure that the display makes things easy for your eyes with the adjustable Blue Light levels. The dual 2W TreVolo speakers baked inside the monitor were a nice touch and during the whole review period, I have never switched to my soundbar. Since the speakers are placed right in front like some smartphone speakers, the sound was impactful and loud enough and was well-tuned as well.

The BenQ Mobiuz EX2710R can produce a peak brightness of 400nits and with the Anti-glare coating, the display removes the light reflection which sometimes causes irritations. With the 10 different profiles defined in the system like the Cinema HDRi , Custom,DisplayHDR,ePaper ,FPS ,Game HDRi ,M-Book ,Racing game , RPG and sRGB. each mode was not the standard as it was having variable brightness and in some profiles, it showed little contrast. While RPG profiles were having a little yellowish tint and the colours looked as vibrant. M-book were almost looked as similar to the standard profile whereas, the e-Paper turns everything into monochrome. The standard BenQ gaming features such as Motion Blur Reduction, Color Vibrance, Black eQualizer are also present in the EX2710R.

Even though the monitor does not support the Nvidia G-Sync, the titles we played using the Nvidia RTX2060 ran perfectly without any issues such as blinking, pulsing, off colours or momentary blackouts during my testing. As such, Nvidia GPU owners shouldn’t have any problem taking advantage of the monitor’s variable refresh rate tech at high frame rates.

In terms of the I/O connectivity, the Mobiuz EX2710R offers two HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4, USB Type-B port and 2 USB 3.0 ports. Sadly, all the ports were placed on the rear side of the monitor and BenQ should have given a couple of USB 3.0 at the sides as well for easy access. The LED strip at the rear looks nice and not too bright were giving a character to the monitor.

Conclusion

BenQ Mobiuz EX2710R is having a beautiful 2K VA panel with a decent 165Hz refresh rate making a great combination for gamers. Retailing at Amazon for AED 1999, it is surely not on a budget price range. Considering the overall features it offers with the high-resolution screen, even for the occasional gamers the media content will look great in the HDR-enabled curved gaming monitor. it is one of the best all-rounder monitors you can get right now in the market.

Build quality is excellent, and the skinny bezel around the 3 sides offers a cutting-edge look with the 1000R curvature screen. The same orange strip on the legs looks the same as its predecessors and the ports selections are not too great, but the given ports do their job nicely.

The BenQ Mobiuz EX2710R produces excellent audio from its built-in dual 2W and 5W subwoofer with the TreVolo speakers. The Mobiuz Gaming monitor is a great pick if you are not someone who looks for perfection while playing games or the content creators who use it for video editing or photo editing, the EX2710R is the front-runner in the competition.
